Remembering Goddess Aja to Heal Ecological Heartbreak

Aja, also known as Wild Wind, is a rare African Earth goddess who cures the sick with herbs while protecting the forests and woodland creatures. She is also said to be kind, revealing herself to humans in a peaceful and humble manner.

Worshiping Aja is even more of a rarity in predominantly Christian America, but religion or spiritual callings shouldn’t matter because Aja represents a universal principle of environmental care and protection.

Aja protects the forests, home to trees that support life for all living things by filtering air and water and providing oxygen. Without trees protecting humanity, there would be more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere with no barrier to slow the pace of an already rapidly changing climate.
